Senior Center Receives Recognition from Meals on Wheels Association

The Forsyth County Senior Center is proud to announce that they have recently received national certification from the Meals on Wheels Association of America and are only the fourth site to be certified in Georgia. This certification is a result of providing quality services to Forsyth County Seniors 60 years and older, and it is quite an honor to receive this designation.
As of July 1st, 2005, the cost of each meal increased from $2.62 to $2.92. Based on the county’s current meal delivery volume, this represents a financial shortfall of over $10,000.00 for fiscal year 2006. Meals on Wheels provides over 30,000 home delivered meals a year to the homebound in our area and have over twenty individuals on a waiting list to begin meal service.
The Senior Center would also like to remind all county citizens of an upcoming fundraiser to benefit our Meals on Wheels program. The Inaugural Forsyth County Meals on Wheels Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, September 24. You can take part by being a sponsor, participating in the tournament or sending a donation directly to the Center.
