One hundred eighteen excited golfers turned out this past Monday morning to participate in the Third Annual Sheriff Ted Paxton Golf Tournament at Windermere Golf Club.

“While the final numbers are not yet totaled, it looks like we raised about $15,000 for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association Youth Homes,” Sheriff Paxton said today. “We really appreciate the support the community shows for this worthy cause,” he added.

Sheriff Paxton serves on the Youth Homes Board of Directors.

Founded in 1956, the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes now serves over 150 children on four campuses around the state. The Homes provide quality care for dependent, neglected and abused children.

The purpose of the Youth Homes is to provide a secure future for Georgia’s needy and worthy children and to give them love, guidance and discipline. The homes are not reform schools or correctional institutions. They provide a warm, caring and secure place in which a child can grow up.

Children served by the Homes are between the ages of six and sixteen and cannot be adjudicated delinquents nor have any severe emotional or physical handicaps. Only children from Georgia are served by the Youth Homes. Children are accepted regardless of race, religion or national origin. No child is ever denied placement by the Youth Homes because of inadequate funds or ability to pay.
