Atlanta’s serious golfers as well as the weekend duffers are teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Swing Fore A Cure Golf Classic. The event, to be held at prestigious Hawk’s Ridge Golf Club on Monday, June 12, offers golfers an opportunity to take a swing in the fight against cancer.
The tournament, sponsored by The PGA Tour Superstore, is open to men and women, experienced and beginner golfers. Teams that win at the local level have the opportunity to advance to their Division Championship. The Division Championship this year will be held at Pine Needles and Mid Pines Golf Clubs in Southern Pines, North Carolina, on August 25-27, 2006.
“The funds raised will enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through educational programs, advocacy, research, and services to patients,” said Adrienne Rissley, an income manager for the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division. “Due to the generosity of corporate sponsors like The PGA Tour Superstore, all money raised by participants goes directly to the American Cancer Society’s life saving programs.”
The PGA Tour Superstore will host a Players’ Party for golfers participating in Swing Fore A Cure at its new Duluth location on Sunday, June 11, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The PGA Tour Superstore opened its doors in March of 2005, the first of its kind in the Atlanta area. The 65,000-square-foot store includes computerized swing simulators and launch monitors, available to analyze a golfer's swing speed, ball trajectory, launch angle and impact zone. Indoor hitting bays enable golfers to "test drive" clubs and PGA of America professionals and instructors are on staff to provide lessons and guide club fitting.
“We have a very unique concept that focuses on game improvement, and we've created a highly interactive atmosphere that’s both high tech and great fun,” said Jorge Cora, PGA Superstore of America Chief Financial Officer.
Tee-off time for the Swing Fore A Cure Golf Classic is 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, at Hawk’s Ridge in Ball Ground, Georgia, with registration at 8 a.m.
