Landon Sears New Voice of the Rome Braves-Body

WLAQ Talk Radio 1410AM and The Ridge 95.7FM have announced the addition of Landon Sears as the new voice of the Rome Braves for all 140 regular season games on their stations. Sears takes over in the booth for stations owner Randy Davis and his son, Matt Davis, who will both continue to work at WLAQ Talk Radio 1410AM and The Ridge 95.7FM, and may appear on the air for several game broadcasts.

Sears brings two full seasons of professional baseball play by play to Rome. Last season the Ardmore, PA native was the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Kannapolis Intimidators (Class A White Sox South Atlantic League). He spent the 2005 season as the voice of the Camden Riversharks (Independent Atlantic League). In total, he has called close to 300 baseball games. Sears currently is majoring in Broadcast Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. He has also studied at Harvard University.

"Rome has fans that know baseball as well as anyone, and it's a passionate community that cares about its minor leaguers and parent club. WLAQ and 95.7 The Ridge are two of the most reliable and favorite stations in the south. The Rome Braves have an outstanding and experienced front office staff and two terrific radio stations that cover their games. I'm flattered to call the action for the Braves--one of the classiest organizations in sports," said Sears.

He will also call the 2007 South Atlantic League All-Star Game at State Mutual Stadium in Rome. It will be the 3rd straight All-Star Game he has broadcasted for his league.

Rome Braves season tickets are on sale now. The team begins the 2007 campaign on April 5th at home against Augusta with the first pitch at 7pm. Season ticket information is available by calling (706) 368-9388.
