The Ford Tour de Georgia makes its way to Cumming today for Stage 6 on this, the final day of the professional cycling event and rolling festival! The professional teams will pedal off at 12:30 p.m. today from Castleberry Road at the Fairgrounds and journey north as they strive to complete the last leg of the 2006 Tour.
Just ten minutes after the professional teams race off, the BriarRose Grand Peloton event begins, whereby amateur cyclists who have raised money for the Georgia Cancer Coalition will line up at the very same start line and then make their way down to Alpharetta where they'll be joined by the Tour professionals later in the afternoon.
Spectators and fans are invited to join in the excitement, which will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a kids-only bike race. The Tour teams will begin arriving around 11:00 a.m. and will be available for autographs and photos until shortly before race time. About the time the Tour festivities wind down, the 4th Annual Taste of Forsyth kicks into high gear at 1:00 p.m. on the Fairgrounds and will feature all kinds of family fun, in addition to the many delectable dishes that will be served up by more than 30 Forsyth County restaurants.
Rhubarb Jones of The Eagle 106.7 will be on-hand to greet Taste of Forsyth guests, and kids will have a blast enjoying several moonwalks and jumping castles provided by Jumpsters and Better Moonwalks of Georgia. Twinklz the Clown will be 'airbrush' face painting, and Abrakadoodle will have all kinds of neat art activities to keep the little ones busy. Rock climbing walls will test agility skills of those young and old, and popcorn and cotton candy will be a'plenty throughout the day.
