There you go again, by David Connor
In the aftermath of the 2004 Presidential election,
panelists, pundits and strategists have analyzed the
results. Their results have been inconclusive. One
thing remains clear. The outcome. America has spoken.
Some say the reason why President Bush won again was
because of sure and steadfastness to the war on
terror; others say he won due to his moral values; and
other say because of his tax cuts. The theories go on.
Let me divulge.
The United States is unique because we are an empire
of ideals. Government's view of the economy could be
summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it.
If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops
moving, subsidize it. The problem is not that people
are taxed too little, the problem is that government
spends too much. The nearest thing to eternal life we
will ever see on this earth is a government program.
We cannot play innocents abroad in a world that is not
innocent. We cannot stop at the foothills when
Everest lies ahead. No arsenal, or no weapon in the
arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will
and moral courage of free men and women.
Peace is more than just the absence of war. True
peace is justice, true peace is freedom. And true
peace dictates the recognition of human rights. These
young Americans sent a message to terrorists
everywhere... you can run but you can't hide. When
you can't make them see the light, make them feel the
heat. The future doesn't belong to the faint-hearted;
it belongs to the brave. We will always remember. We
will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so
we may always be free.
If we ever forget that we're one nation under God,
then we will be a nation gone under. We are never
defeated unless we give up on God. Within the covers
of the Bible are all the answers for all the problems
men face. God should never have been expelled from
America's classrooms in the first place. We have the
duty to protect the life of an unborn child.
Every last word and sentence above can be attributed
to one man. I would credit President Bush's victory
to him.
On the week following the Republican National
Convention in New York City, a dear friend returned
from that event and graciously gave my wife and I a
poster that she was given. We had seen many of these
posters days earlier on television. It read "Win one
for the Gipper". I now disagree with the wording of
the sign.
Sadly, this gentleman died this past year. Upon his
death, everyone was reminded of his vision of freedom
and liberty, his strength and his courage. If there
is one reason why the conservative base was revved up
this year, it was because of him.
President Ronald Reagan, you won it for us.
There you go again.
All I can say is thank you President Reagan. Thank
you.
