The AJC is at it Again: Hypocrisy Alert from the Perdue Camp

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ran an editorial that claimed Governor Perdue’s use of tax and other incentives to bring more jobs to Georgia was “corporate welfare.” In this initial attack, they neglected to mention that Cox Enterprises, the parent company of the AJC, received a $6.7 million tax break in the name of economic development in order to build their new headquarters in Fulton County.

After running this story, they asked the Governor’s Office for an equal time piece to offer an alternative perspective. The AJC then ran a censored version of the op-ed the Governor’s Office submitted, removing the portion that pointed out their hypocrisy.

“This is a form of censorship and it points out a major problem at the AJC,” said Dan McLagan, communications director for Governor Perdue. “They see themselves as the arbiters of truth, and in our judgment, eagerly omit facts and opinions which do not fit their world view.”
