Dear Casey:
You know I have been involved in Republican Party activities at various levels, in different states for several decades. I supported you in your first run for State Senator and worked for your re-election while I lived in Forsyth County.
Thus, it is with dismay, sadness and displeasure that I view your increasingly reckless campaign of distortion, invective and contemptible accusations against my friend Ralph Reed.
In one of your brochures you labeled yourself a “leading voice for honesty and integrity.” Yet your most recent brochures are revealing studies in the use of misrepresentation and innuendo. Indeed, you and your hired guns have achieved new levels of political slime artistry.
I have several questions for you Casey:
- How do your ad hominem smears of Ralph Reed contribute to serious consideration of the issues the Lt. Governor will have to deal with?
- How does such vituperation improve the political, cultural or moral climate in Georgia?
- As a Christian, where, in Scripture, do you find approval for your apparent philosophy of “the end (no matter how dirty or unsavory) justifies the means?
- How is it that you, as a self-identified “family man,” have the chutzpah to model such utterly despicable campaign tactics to your children?
Casey, you have crossed the line of decency and ethical behavior.
Perhaps you have done the primary election voters a favor by painting a starkly unglamorous portrait of your own character flaws.
