Now That the Election for County Commissioners is Behind Us

Now that the election for County Commissioners is behind us, it is time to reflect on why the two candidates won. Because of the rapid, and seemingly out-of-control growth, we have a history of not giving the incumbent commissioners another four years.

This fact played a part in the Jim Harrell victory. This was not the case with the Charlie Laughinghouse victory. When Charlie became the only incumbent to be re-elected in many years, it reflects the fact that voters feel that he makes good decisions for us and is leading Forsyth County in the right direction.

Many of us worked very hard to elect these two candidates because we believe that our commissioners should make the same kind of decisions that we would make. When we go to the BOC meetings or read about the decisions made at these meetings, we should be satisfied that the decisions made are in the best interest of the citizens of Forsyth County.

We now have an opportunity to make this great county an even better place to live.

Please become involved. Go to the Planning Commission meetings, and the Board of Commissioners meetings, email or write the commissioners with your ideas and expectations. As the recent election proved, being involved can make a difference.
