The latest string of opinions regarding the subject above are troublesome. I believe that this website was to report current events and happenings in this great county. I was shocked to see that CummingHome now is a free fire zone for politicians? [see editor's note 1 below]
Regarding the dialogue between Dave Richard and Jerry Bowman, I have this to say:
First, Jack had nothing to do with the ad placed in the Sunday edition of the Forsyth County News.
Second, Jerry is correct that Jack did champion the latest SPLOST 5, but was precluded from promoting it by virtue of his seat on the Commission. Jerry, Bob Charles, others and I did the marketing of the SPLOST. A great SPLOST that emphasized transportation funding we sorely need in the County. The SPLOST vote was a landslide. Dave debated against this initiative and lost, badly.
Third, I have worked a lot with Chairman Conway on transportation initiatives with the State while I was a Board Member on GRTA. So has Jerry. We have made great progress on expediting many projects that were buried in the TIP and the RTP; the orange barrels we see on 400 would not have been there for another 4 years had we not all helped our Governor win the Statehouse in the last gubernatorial election. Jack, Charlie and Marcy all worked on these initiatives. Jack has been the continuing linchpin in lobbying for even more projects such as an intersection that will be built at 400 and McGinnis Ferry at the county line. I know, I was there in Washington with him, and so was Jerry. Dave was never a part of these dialogues……nor were other Commissioners.
Fourth, Dave is making this personal. He is often on the wrong end of votes that Jack and others approve….and he is taking this personally. This seems very petty.
Fifth, I worked hard , and spent my own money ( as did Jerry and others) to help Dave win his seat. I am now re-thinking this as Jack has never put in print his views on Dave, he is too much of a gentleman.
Last, I find it curious that Jim Harrell is a candidate for Jack’s seat and is an employee of this great website. Please do not allow this obvious conflict of interest to continue. [see editors note 2 below]
Best regards, Jeff Anderson.
