Do you know your ABC’s?

The voters of this wonderful county must come to know that this election, both for District 1 and District 3, is the People of Power versus the Power of the People....

What do Bobby Thomas and Brian Tam have in common besides their initials? They want to believe that ABC means AMOS or BOWMAN and CONWAY. However, they both know that, to the voters of Forsyth County, ABC means ANYBODY BUT CONWAY. The voters of this wonderful county must come to know that this election, both for District 1 and District 3, is the People of Power (the power brokers who have controlled this county for the past 30 years and are represented by the likes of Brian Tam and Bobby Thomas) versus the Power of the People (you, the homeowners who are ready to throw off the yoke of overdevelopment and be represented by Charlie Laughinghouse and Jim Harrell.). It is a shame when politicians cannot run on their platform but must resort to campaigns of deceit carried out by their minions of the dark.

Let’s look at a few of the deceitful actions by these minions. First to the ABC letter from Mr. Thomas:

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who will support personal property rights. That is exactly what Charlie Laughinghouse has done for the past 3-½ years. Charlie Laughinghouse is the commissioner who introduced the Resolution against Eminent Domain in support of your property rights. Any zoning issue that has come before the Board that is in conformity with the Unified Development Code and the Comprehensive Land Use Plan has received my approval. Why? Because that is the law and I uphold the law. What Mr. Thomas really wants is a puppet on a string.

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who supports Second Amendment rights. Charlie Laughinghouse is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment and will defend his, and Mr. Thomas’ right to own a firearm.

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who doesn’t want to make you a criminal through the creation and revision of ordinances. Charlie Laughinghouse is a firm believer in the creation and enforcement of ordinances that are designed to protect and enhance the safety and well being of his constituents, the citizens of Forsyth County. Mr. Thomas wants a puppet on a string that will act to protect the interest of the few at the expense of the safety of the many.

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who will be accessible for all four years of his term not just before election time. Charlie Laughinghouse has always been accessible, not only to his constituents in District 1 but to the constituents of other districts who have been ignored by their district commissioners (Tam and Conway). Charlie Laughinghouse has held real Town Hall Meetings, not staged Dog and Pony shows, for the past 2-½ years, not the past four months as alleged. But Mr. Thomas, Mr. Tam, Mr. Amos and Ms. Bowman would not know, as they have been conspicuously absent.

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who will work for consensus, not foster conflict. Charlie Laughinghouse knows that in order to achieve consensus, there must be open and honest communication and discussion. However, this requires cooperation from all parties and to quote Chairman Jack Conway “When you’re in the majority, it really doesn’t mean a lot to have the discussions because you’re getting your way.” Charlie Laughinghouse is willing to stand up for what is right. What Mr. Thomas really wants is a puppet on a string.

Mr. Thomas says he wants a District 1 Commissioner who will vote YES to extend a flawed Finished Water Contract and not one who gambles with our health and safety with repeated NO votes. Mr. Tam states that casting a NO vote against this flawed water contract is detrimental to your health and safety. Do you get the feeling that Mr. Thomas and Mr. Tam both employed the same ghostwriter? The citizens of Forsyth County need to know that the reason there is no agreement on a water contract is because of the refusal by Mr. Tam, Mr. Conway, and Ms. Ledbetter to discuss any changes to the contract, including those recommended by the County Attorney. Charlie Laughinghouse is looking out for the best interest of the citizens of Forsyth County, not catering to the whims of the power brokers. What Mr. Thomas really wants is a puppet on a string.
