Sarah Jo Warner Izard, widow of the former Indiana women’s basketball team and Berry College women’s basketball team accused of self aborting two fetuses and keeping them in a storage building could face charges.

Law enforcement has gathered information which has been sent to the district attorney who will then decide how to proceed in the case.

Sarah Jo Warner Izard, wife of the late Jim Izard who committed suicide in February told friends in Florida that the remains of the fetuses were in Rome in a storage shed.

Jim Izard coached the Berry women’s basketball team for two years and resigned in January 2005 to move to Florida where his suicide took place.

Although district attorney, Leigh Patterson would not speculate on possible charges she said a decision would probably be made by her office early next year.

Rome Police Chief, Hubert Smith said “This is a tough case to begin with. There could be a number of charges, but this is the first time I have dealt with a case like this. To be honest, I do not really know.”

The late Jim Izard coached the Indiana women’s basketball team from 1989 to 2000 when he was fired after a 10-8 season. He then took the position as Berry’s women’s basketball coach but was not coaching at the time of his death.
