On Wednesday, October 5, a very special check presentation was made, as Commissioner Jack Conway and Forsyth County Fire Chief, Danny Bowman, presented a check in the amount of $51,341.88 to The Place in Cumming, to assist Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
This incredible amount of money was raised over the Labor Day weekend by the Forsyth County Fire Department’s Boot Drive, whose members spent tireless hours collecting money from many very generous Forsyth County residents over the three-day weekend.
The $51,341.88 collected during this Boot Drive is twice the amount raised on average by the Fire Department’s annual Boot Drives to support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. This really demonstrates the generosity of the community and their willingness and desire to assist those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
A big thank-you goes out to all who participated in this recent Boot Drive.
