Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton has been named to serve on the Advisory Committee of the National Task Force on Community Preparedness and Response. The mission of the Advisory Committee is to advise the Task Force on how best to create a plan – a template – for America’s local government and community leaders that shows them how to network their community’s resources to strengthen Homeland Security in order to make our citizens safer.
The invitation to serve on the Advisory Committee was sent to Sheriff Paxton by Hon. James S. Gilmore, III, former Governor of Virginia, and Chairman of the National Council on Readiness & Preparedness.
The invitation to serve on the Advisory Committee stated, in part, that Sheriff Paxton was chosen because, “…you are a key leader in your community, and the Task Force needs your experience and advice.”
In addition to serving on the Advisory Committee, Sheriff Paxton serves on a number of local and national boards and committees, including:
Finally, Sheriff Paxton was the receipient of the Governor’s Public Safety Award in 2004. Each year, the Governor presents one outstanding Sheriff in Georgia with this award, based on his overall accomplishments as Sheriff and his contribution to his community.
