Karen Handel, Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, today qualified for the Republican nomination for Secretary of State at the state capitol.

With her husband and surrounded by supporters, Mrs. Handel filed the necessary paperwork and paid the fee for office.

Among the supporters joining Mrs. Handel were Fayette County Board of Commissioners Chairman Greg Dunn, and State Representatives Harry Geisinger and Edward Lindsey.

Handel said, “It’s a great honor to be here today and officially begin my campaign to become Georgia’s first Republican Secretary of State. My campaign will be a campaign of ideas, reform and a clear vision for the direction I will lead in the office of Secretary of State.”

“I am proud of my conservative Republican credentials and record. That, along with my vision and new ideas for the office of Secretary of State will be the foundation of my campaign. The voters want more than rhetoric and sound bites about the problems, they want—deserve—solutions and action…which is what I offer.” Handel concluded.

According to the Handel camp, Karen Handel is the only candidate for the office who has released a detailed plan for reforming the election process in Georgia.
