Outdoor Water Use Prohibited

Officials hope to have solution within several days

Citing rising levels in the county’s water tanks, Forsyth County officials are optimistic they may be able to have a solution to the current water situation within several days. This could possibly mean returning to following the state water ban regulations or implementing another limited use outdoor water policy.

Forsyth County instituted the outdoor water use restriction on Sunday, June 11 as a means of proactive management of the county’s water resources, to help ensure an adequate water supply is available for appropriate uses.

Outdoor water usage is defined as:

§ lawn and garden watering

§ noncommercial car washing

§ and filling of private swimming pools

The ban does not include water for businesses or water for newly laid sod or plants within the first thirty days after they are put down.

Prior to the outdoor water use ban, Forsyth County was following the state-mandated watering ban for non-drought conditions, which permitted outdoor water use on certain days depending upon street address and prohibited all outdoor water use on Fridays.
