ity Manager John Bennett and County Manager Kevin Poe announced today that the Director of Building Inspection position for the City of Rome and Floyd County has been offered to and accepted by Howard Gibson who is the current Director of Building and Planning for the Edgefield County Government in Edgefield, South Carolina.
Gibson has been involved with construction for over 20 years and has been a Building Official for 8 years. He has a B.S. degree in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia and is a Certified Building Official and Building Inspector with the International Codes Council. Gibson is also licensed in the State of Georgia as an Unrestricted Conditioned Air Contractor and Master Plumber.
“We were most impressed with Gibson’s overall experience as a Building Official,” said City Manager John Bennett. “He has a strong belief in training not only for his employees but also for the building and development community. Howard comes highly recommended for his integrity and work ethic.”
County Manager Kevin Poe and City Manager John Bennett both participated in the interview process. Mr. Gibson was chosen from a pool of approximately 30 applicants and will begin his position as Director of Building Inspection on March 26, 2007.
