The Forsyth County Board of Education voted on May 18, 2006 to place the referendum for a Special Purpose Local Option Sale Tax (SPLOST) on the November 2006 General Election ballot. If approved, the SPLOST would fund the building of four new schools, an addition at North Forsyth High School, as well as provide funds to purchase land for future school sites, upgrade and add technology and transportation.
Forsyth County voters approved a SPLOST in 1997 and again in 2001. The current SPLOST II will expire in June 2007.
