The Third Annual Wildwood Christian Academy Silent Auction and Wine Tasting is almost upon us. This year’s event is set for Friday March 31st at the Chimneys in Big Canoe from 7-10 pm.

As in the past, this year’s event will feature several auction items including a 1995 World Series baseball autographed by John Smoltz, a weekend package at Champions Edge Golf Club & The Omni Hotel in Orlando, a Chipper Jones autographed baseball, a golf foursome at Barnsly Gardens, a sapphire and ruby ring from Satterfield & Dempsy Jewelers and other jewelry selections.

The artist community is once again bringing out its vast array of artistic creations to help support Wildwood, along with Chelsea Antiques, which has donated an antique framed horse painting. The students at Wildwood have again been blessed with the talents of local artists Cindy Lupi and Shannon Meyer who, along with the students, have created beautiful art for the auction.

The wine tasting portion of the event will include representatives from wineries and retail bottlers who will be available to assist with information regarding your choices of wines and their respective vineyards. Our guests will enjoy food provided by two of the most outstanding restaurateurs in the Big Canoe area, John Lupi of the Appalachia Grill and David Meyer of Piazza. The pastas, cheeses, breads and desserts at last year’s event were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to enhance the physical education program, to purchase equipment for technology, provide teachers with needed programs, books and materials for students, and assist Wildwood in other essential programs.

Wildwood Christian Academy also provides financial aid to several community families who, without such assistance, would not otherwise be able to attend the school. We hope that Wildwood is as much of a blessing to these children as these children and their families are to Wildwood.

In the past two years this wine tasting and silent auction has become a highly anticipated evening of socializing for a wonderful cause. Big Canoe’s tennis pro, Howard Hunt and his wife Lynn, have attended previous auctions. “It is a great evening for a great cause and a chance to support the children in and around Big Canoe,” stated Howard. Becky Denney of State Farm Insurance Agency chose the students' art that was auctioned as her favorite item. Becky said, “Wildwood’s annual wine Tasting and Silent auction fundraiser is a great opportunity to meet good friends and support a really good cause for our community. As a business owner in Pickens County, I feel very lucky to be able to tell new customers with children moving to the area about the education available which now includes an independent school with excellence in education in a Christian environment. I look forward to bidding on the incredible children’s art work this year since I was outbid on the pieces last year.”

Because of the popularity of this event, we urge you to make reservations early to assure your participation in this special evening. You may make reservations by calling the school at 770-893-3300. We look forward to seeing you on March 31st.
