Using patent-pending technology, the new screensaver, which can be downloaded free of charge at http://www.weather.com/photogallery , showcases a rotating gallery of awe-inspiring weather photos, all of which were submitted by weather.com(R) users. These lush images, highlighting weather scenes from communities around the United States, are also part of the site's popular Photo Gallery. The photos automatically change along with local weather conditions -- which are also constantly displayed on the user's screen when the screensaver is active. For example, a person in Philadelphia may view images of rain while, simultaneously, a person in Dallas can see photographs of sunny days -- depending on the current weather in each location. Through this unique product, even users at work can experience the weather by viewing incredible images of the outside world along with the current temperature and weather reports that The Weather Channel has perfected.
The screensaver demonstrates both weather.com's ability to track and quickly communicate local weather details for 98,000 locations around the world and leverages the site's extensive online community. For the past five years, many weather.com fans have willingly shared their personal, digital images of the weather in their backyard. Through the launch of this screensaver, photographers can share their work with another segment of online users through a high-quality desktop experience.
