Medallion Performing Arts Center Announces...'Of Thee I Sing - A Patriotic Celebration'-Body

Medallion Performing Arts Center kicks off their summer theatre season with Of Thee I Sing – A Patriotic Celebration, a family-oriented presentation that brings history to life.

Produced by Glen and Alisa Kay Sloan, Medallion’s founding directors, this revised and expanded show is being reprised due to the success of last year’s production. During the past three years, Medallion has produced acclaimed shows for Cumming and Forsyth County including You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Of Thee I Sing – A Patriotic Celebration 2005, and Broadway Showcases for 2005 and 2006.

Written and directed by Medallion’s president and artistic director, Alisa Kay Sloan, Of Thee I Sing takes place in the home attic of a family preparing for a community play. As family members sift through an old trunk looking for costumes and props, they discover an ancestor’s history book. Opening the book brings to life the characters of George and Martha Washington, Betsy Ross, Nathan Hale, Uncle Sam and Francis Scott Key. Enhancing this year’s production is the Sawnee Color Guard, with a tribute to our nation’s armed forces and fallen heroes.

Audiences will laugh, sing-a-long, and perhaps shed a tear as they enjoy the talents of some of Forsyth County’s most gifted performers. Performances will be held June 30th through July 2nd at the Cumming Playhouse. Friday, June 30 performance is at 8:00 PM, Saturday, July 1 performances are at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and Sunday, July 2 performance is at 3:00 PM.

Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for seniors or students, and $10.00 for veterans (groups of 25 or more – all tickets $15.00). To purchase tickets or make reservations, call The Cumming Playhouse at 770-781-9178.
