This isn’t amateur night at the Apollo – it’s improvisational theatre at the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center!

Fourteen local children have been hard at work during this week’s Drama through Improv Summer Camp. The camp was facilitated by Karen Beyer, an accomplished director, choreographer and actress in the metro area.

Campers started the week with a tour of the Center’s Backstage Blackbox Theatre. Next, they learned a few theatre terms for working on stage and tips on auditioning. Campers learned how to work with and without a script and how to improvise lines and movements during a performance. Then, campers constructed their own props and costumes for a performance to parents and friends at the end of the week.

The Sawnee Cultural Arts Center is conducting visual art and drama camps for the remainder of the summer. To learn more, or to enroll your child, please call 770-889-4977 or visit www.sawneecenter.org.
