FCHS Takes All at Greater Atlanta Band Festival

The Forsyth Central High School Flash of Crimson Band took their "Pirates of the Caribbean" show to Conyers on September 25 and "scuttled" the competition.

The Greater Atlanta Marching Festival, hosted by Rockdale Co. HS Band, is one of the most established competitions in Georgia. The FCHS Band performed selections from the blockbuster movie including: "The Medallion Calls," "The Black Pearl," "One Last Shot," "Skull and Crossbones," "Blood Ritual" and "He's a Pirate."

The band is led on the field by Drum Major Stephanie "the Admiral" Kromer. Stephanie was awarded a Superior Rating as well as Open Class and Gold Division Sweepstakes for Best Drum Major. The FOC Band Captain is Chi "Capt'n Jack Sparrow" Wright.

Chi accepted the awards for the band's Superior Rating, Open Class and Gold Division Sweepstakes Championship for Best Band. Drumline Captain Branden "Salty Dog" Stathes, accepted the awards for Drumline Superior Rating, Open Class and Gold Division Sweepstakes for Best Drumline.

The Color Guard is led by Captains: Leann "Overboard" Owens, Samantha "Anchor" Eddy and Lacey "Keel Haul" Hitchings. The Color Guard was awarded Superior Ratings, Open Class and Gold Division Sweepstakes for Best Color Guard.

The Flash of Crimson Band is directed by John "Mizzenmast" Mashburn, Tom "Tortuga" Tucker, Sue "Landlubber" Mashburn and Raelyn "the Expecting" Walter. The FCHS Band and Directors would like to thank the FCHS Band Boosters, FCHS Administration and all of our fans and alumni for their continued support.

The FCHS Band will also participate in the Sandy Creek HS Invitational of Bands on Oct. 9th and in the Eagles Nest Competition for Bands at Collins Hill on Oct. 16th. The final performance for the 2004 marching season will be as host band in exhibition at the annual Georgia Bandmasters Championships at the FCHS Stadium on Oct. 23rd.
