Officials from the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center and the Cedar Hill Enrichment Center announced today that they will jointly host the first ever Hearts for the Arts Valentine’s Day Gala in 2005.

The gala fundraising event will be held at the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14. Hearts for the Arts will include a cocktail hour with entertainment by North Forsyth High School Four on the Floor Quartet, art exhibit by the Sawnee Artists Association, silent auction, dinner and dessert. Mel Whitehead will give a vocal performance, followed by big band and swing dance music from the Gainesville College Jazz Band.

“The SCAC Board of Directors and I have been brainstorming for an idea that would become our signature event. Celebrating Valentine’s Day was a perfect fit for us because it takes the pressure off our guests. We handle all the planning, preparation, gifts and entertainment – all they have to do is buy a ticket,” said Paula DeLong Glover, Executive Director of the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center.

“We approached SCAC about hosting a similar event just for Cedar Hill, but it worked in both our organizations’ favor to do a joint event. We are excited about working together with SCAC on the Hearts for the Arts Gala” said Carol Patron, Executive Director for Cedar Hill Enrichment Center.

Both organizations will be seeking sponsorships and silent auction contributions from local businesses throughout December and January. Sponsorship levels include Platinum ($1000+), Gold ($750) and Silver ($250) and businesses interested in contributing should contact SCAC at 770.889.4977 or Cedar Hill at 770.887.0051.

Tickets to the Gala are on sale now at SCAC and Cedar Hill and holiday gift boxes are available, if you’d like to give tickets as a Christmas gift. Tickets may be ordered over the phone with Visa or MasterCard by calling 770.889.4977.
