April is 'Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness' month. And in conjunction, the Forsyth County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program sponsors a Light of Hope event to focus on the issues and causes of child abuse.
The Light of Hope ceremony takes place on Monday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County Juvenile Courthouse, 875 Lanier 400 Parkway, Cumming.
Featured speakers include the Honorable Judge J. Russell Jackson of the Juvenile Court and Board of Commissioners Chair, Jack Conway.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants are invited to a reception honoring all CASA volunteers. The juvenile courthouse is located just west of Georgia 400, off of Bald Ridge Road.
CASA trains and supports community volunteers who provide advocacy for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers provide a voice for these children during deprivation cases until they are placed in a safe, permanent home.
