The Georgia Child Care Tax Credit received unanimous approval by the Senate on Tuesday, February 14th. After being approved by the House 154-0 earlier this month, the bill now goes to the Governor’s desk to be signed.

“I appreciate the legislature’s unanimous approval of the Georgia Child Care Tax Credit,” said Governor Perdue. “Child care is a critical need for many families in Georgia. Assisting hard-working parents with these costs is a practical step government can take to help create conditions for economic prosperity and improve the safety and well-being of our young people.”

The Governor’s tax credit will return approximately $50 million to working parents to help with the cost of child care. The program mirrors an existing federal program that puts money back into parents’ pockets each year to offset child care expenses.
