An Internet telephone plan that provides digital home telephone service for just $5 a month is available now from Xpert VoIP, a subsidiary of communiqué Xpert messaging, an Atlanta company offering integrated communications solutions.
The Xpert Digital Voice plan was created for those who want the convenience of a home telephone but seldom use one due to increased cell phone use.
The Xpert Digital Voice plan replaces land-based analog telephone plans that can cost up to $50 a month or more, depending on monthly long-distance charges. It does not require an annual contract.
With the Xpert Digital Voice plan, there’s no charge for long-distance calls. Instead, consumers receive 200 minutes of calling time a month to call anywhere in the 50 states and Canada for just $5. Additional minutes are billed at the rate of 2.8 cents a minute.
All monthly telephone charges are capped at $19.95 a month, which means no subscriber will be billed more than $19.95 a month for home telephone service. Xpert Digital Voice plan subscribers will be charged a one-time installation fee of $48 for the service.
The Xpert Digital Voice telephone plan includes more than 15 advanced features like call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling – all the services traditionally offered by land-based telephone companies. Subscribers may keep their current phone number or choose one from among 220 U.S. area codes.
The Xpert Digital Voice plan employs Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, the 21st century way of making and receiving telephone calls. VoIP technology enables telephone users to make telephone calls over the Internet instead of a regular telephone line. All it requires is a high-speed Internet connection and a touch-tone telephone.
Sales of VoIP service and equipment have surged in the corporate market and are expected to reach $5.5 billion by 2008, according to a market research firm serving the computer and telecommunications industries. Most industry analysts believe that last year’s shipments of IP telephone ports will surpass those of the traditional PBX ports that support analog telephones for the first time.
