'Moms of Georgia' a Place of Support for Many

Looking for a place to seek support, advice and ideas from other Georgia moms, in a supportive environment? Then you may want to check out a brand new web site called MomsofGa.com...

There is a new online community for local moms throughout the state of Georgia looking to make new connections with other area mothers. Momsofga.com is a website created by local mom, Beth Stafford of Lawrenceville, as a way to get herself and her son out of the house and meeting new friends.

Beth and her husband, Rob, moved to Georgia in 2003 and soon fell in love with the area. They quickly began to make friends and settle into the community. In 2005 they had their first child and Beth began her life as a stay-at-home mom.

It was then that she realized the importance of having other mothers around as a means of support and fellowship. Since she had no network of moms to rely on, she went about finding one. After joining several ‘Mommy Boards’ she came to the conclusion that none of the available ones offered her exactly what she was looking for -- a place where local moms of all age, race and parenting philosophies could discuss parental concerns and strategies without limitations or censorship.

“I wanted a place where everyone could feel comfortable being themselves rather than what other moms expected them to be. There seems to be a lot of standards that we as mothers hold other moms to, sometimes to extremes. I have encountered more than one site that made me feel like less of a mom due to parenting choices I had made that may not have not been the popular trend, and I wanted to avoid that at all costs.” states Beth. With support from her husband, she set about creating that environment.

MomsofGa.com is that environment...and more. Not only does it offer message boards where women are free to discuss and debate relevant issues, but it also offers members a way to connect and meet up with each other both on- and off-line to form new friendships.

“Being a single working mom, it is hard to find time to meet people and to make friends, but MomsofGa.com allows me to do both," says Rebecca Rabun of Cumming. "The site is great because it allows for moms in similar situations to meet and talk about what is going on in their lives, and it can quickly become like a second family," Rabun continues.

"There are so many women on the site with such a variety of backgrounds that it is always a learning experience. And as for my daughter, this site is the best thing that has happened. Through MomsofGa.com, we both have meet some incredible people, and for once in her young life, she has children her age to play with,” remarks Rabun.
