Community Build Day Draws Support for Habitat For Humanity-Body

Community Build Day – a Habitat for Humanity/Financial Services Roundtable volunteer project -- takes place this weekend. Employees from eight Atlanta-area insurance/financial services companies have joined together to help Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia build a home in Roswell. Companies represented include: ACE Group, BB&T, Bank of North Georgia/Synovus, Merrill Lynch, State Farm, SunTrust, Wachovia and World Financial Group.

Date: Saturday, August 5

Time: 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Press conference and ceremony; 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Volunteer service project

Location: 620 Streamside Drive, Roswell, GA.

From downtown Atlanta: Take Interstate 85 North to Georgia 400. Continue on 400 North. Take Exit 8 off GA 400 - Mansell Road. Turn left. Continue on Mansell to Alpharetta Highway (Hwy 9). Turn right. (North). Continue on Alpharetta Highway to Hembree Road – 1.5 miles. Turn left at the light. Continue on Hembree Road 1/4 mile to parking locations. Parking available at the Cross of Life Lutheran Church (on right) - 1000 Hembree Road or the office park at 1100 Hembree Road (on left).

Approximately 40 employee volunteers and company executives will be working to complete the day’s build. The Kerzazi family, who will live in the home upon its completion, will be on-hand at the event. Invited and confirmed government officials and insurance/financial services company representatives attending the press conference portion of the event include Senators Isakson and Chambliss (or their representatives); Roswell Mayor Jere Wood; Roswell Councilman Kent Igleheart; Lynn Riley, North Fulton Commissioner; Dennis Crosby, President & Chief Executive Officer, ACE Westchester Specialty; Doug Justice, 1st Vice President, Merrill Lynch; Martin Fahsel, Sr. Vice President, City Executive, BB&T; Brad Beard, Vice President Corporate Banking, Bank of North Georgia/Synovus; Victor Terry, Agency Field Executive, State Farm.

In addition to the August 5 build, each of the participating companies is volunteering at the site on one of nine weekends between June and September. The home will be dedicated in September.

The goal of Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is to eliminate poverty housing in North Fulton, Cherokee, Forsyth and Dawson Counties by constructing and building simple, decent homes. As of May 2006, Habitat for Humanity North Central Georgia has built 88 homes in the North Fulton community with plans to complete 6 more homes in the North Fulton area before the end of the year.
