Daily, through our technological central nervous system, we are watching the mass destruction of the world we have craftily compromised. If we, the people, have created this critical mess, then we, too, can elicit the critical mass it will take to birth us into a more harmonious way of being in this world.

At Cedar Hill Enrichment Center we're not waiting for the rest of the planet to come into harmony. We are first of all providing time (most days of the week, for two hours or more), space (Mother Earth in all her splendor), silence (quarterly silent weekend retreats and monthly labyrinth walks), and activities (from a broad, diverse spectrum), for the New Reality to make Itself known to us. As Revelation comes, we are then attempting to put the New Reality into words.

George Lakoff's book, Don't Think of an Elephant, says, "Words create a whole framework for the propagation of a value system. Every word evokes a frame, which can be an image or other kinds of knowledge. Framing is about getting language that fits your worldview." Political parties tend to frame their values for the nation in a family metaphor. The Conservatives tend to adhere to the more stern authoritarian father-led family model that keeps us all under control through discipline and punishment, and the Progressives often promote their 'family' as having empathetic, nutritive equal-partner parents who are most interested in our protection and fulfillment in life.

So what type of family, or worldview, is it that Cedar Hill is feeling called to replicate? I think our divine Mother was speaking the answer to that question on a Monday evening when June Racicot, (one of Cedar Hill's founders), was explaining the Reiki process to our many visitors who came for their first complimentary treatment. She very lovingly and softly talked about the Universal Energy that flows through our bodies, the bodies of our four-footed and winged friends, the land, the water, the sky, the trees, the rocks, and everything else that IS. She went on to say that this Energy is called by many different names, according to the tradition, culture, or religion to which one adheres and that it is because of this Universal Energy that flows within, through, and amongst All That Is that we can say, "We are One!" By the end of their Reiki treatment, each one of those people had intimately experienced the Universal Energy flowing inside their own bodies. This is often the type of touch we need in order to find our place in the whole, unified glorious organism that is even more than our global family.
