Nancy Hyde of Suwanee, Georgia recently joined thousands of like-minded entrepreneurs from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Malaysia at Shaklee Corporation’s 50th Anniversary Conference, held in San Francisco on August 16-20. Shaklee, the number one natural nutrition company in the U.S., set a first for the City: it offset all carbon dioxide emissions associated the conference, including Hyde's air and ground travel, hotel accommodations and event activities in what was billed as the first carbon neutral conference in the history of San Francisco.

“Dr. Shaklee was ahead of his time. He built a sustainable business model focused on preserving the health of people and the planet,” said Roger Barnett, Shaklee Chairman and CEO. “Thanks to his vision, Shaklee is poised for tremendous growth over the next 50 years, as public interest in living a healthy life in harmony with nature continues to grow.”

Conference attendees heard from internationally-recognized speakers, including: 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Doctor Wangari Maathai, founder of The Green Belt Movement, a grass roots non-governmental organization; Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, special advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and co-founder of Millennium Promise, a multinational plan to halve global poverty and hunger by the year 2015; Rudolph W. Giuliani, former two-term Mayor of New York City; and Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind man in history to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain.

At the conference, Shaklee named Dr. Maathai the Global Ambassador for its A Million Trees. A Million Dreams.™ environmental restoration program. Shaklee also announced its sponsorship of award-winning Arctic explorer Will Steger and his fourth expedition to the Arctic Circle, called Global Warming 101.

“It’s exciting to be part of an organization that cares so much for the health of people and the planet,” said Hyde. “The conference inspired me to safeguard the well being of my family and my community, and to redouble my personal environmental protection efforts.”

Two major product introductions were introduced at the conference: Get Clean™, a safe, nontoxic, biodegradable cleaning line that is safe for people and the planet; and Cinch™, a new weight management system specially formulated to help break the yo-yo dieting cycle, retain muscle, burn fat and lose inches.

Hyde started her health and wellness outreach two years ago, and has found that helping others learn about the benefits of a wellness program has led to a successful home-based business.
