Two upcoming fun and festive classes are part of the new winter schedule for Salud! Cooking & Lifestyle School announced today by Harry's Farmers Market.
Holiday shoppers searching for the perfect gift for the cook or food enthusiast can choose from dozens of Salud! classes for late 2005 and early 2006, now open for registration at www.harrysfarmersmarket.com or 770-442-3354.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m., Carolyn O'Neil of CNN's "On The Menu" will present ideas for giving the gift of great tasting food that just happens to be healthy. She'll show participants how to make O'Neil's brand of appetizers, "Spa-tizers," starting with Creative Crudités with Global Gourmet Dips.
To add an elegant touch to any holiday meal, the class will learn how to make braised fennel salad and vegetables all dressed up for the holidays. And for an easy and elegant entrée, the class will also learn about Beef Tenderloin a Trois with three different sauces to accessorize a holiday plate. The class will end this entertaining evening with warm apple and cranberry crisp. O'Neil's class is $40 with registration open by contacting Salud!
Also on deck for an upcoming Salud! presentation is Shirley Corriher, who has been answering the "whys" of cooking for more than 25 years, with Julia Child, Pillsbury, magazine test kitchens, celebrity chefs and home cooks among those who have called on Corriher's expertise. Her first book, "CookWise: The Hows and Whys of Successful Cooking," won the 1998 James Beard Award for Food Reference and Techniques and is a standard for both food professionals and amateurs.
An Atlanta native known as one of the most accessible writers on food today, Corriher is happy to share her expertise and lively anecdotes with just about anyone who asks. This Salud! event from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 is FREE.
Salud! and Harry's also welcomes the return of Santa's eight reindeer from Dec. 12 to Dec. 18, with family members of all ages invited to feed fresh fruits and vegetables to the reindeer during daylight hours. This holiday tradition is also FREE.
