Charles and Ann Ammons established the original Deckers restaurant in Cumming in 1988. After selling the restaurant in 2004, former patrons beseeched Charles and Ann to bring back the popular eatery. Charles explains, “Every where we went people told us how much they missed our salads and food.”

Deckers Express became a reality in September, 2006, at the hands of Charles and Ann, along with their daughter, Meghan. Implementing a new concept, the restaurant provides high-quality dining to those with a limited amount of time. It is fast and casual. Customers order at the counter, take a number and their meal is served up in about 6 to 8 minutes. Drinks and silverware are self-serve.

During the day, customers can expect to find such hearty menu items as the famous chicken tenders, along with both cold and hot sandwiches. Known for their unique and exotic salads, Deckers Express offers the discerning diner such selections as the Tropical Fruit Salad, which combines tender grilled chicken, tropical fruit and shredded coconut on a bed of lettuce with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing...or perhaps the mouthwatering Harvest Salad which blends sliced turkey, dried cranberries and roasted pecans with lettuce and a citrus vinaigrette.

After 4:00 pm, the menu is further enhanced by such fare as ribs, hamburgers, quesadillas, nachos and other appetizers.

All menu items can be prepared to go, and Deckers Express provides catering for all types of gatherings, including business lunches and parties. Delivery is available on orders for more than 12 people or exceeding $100.00.

Charles Ammons is no stranger to the restaurant business. His career in food service began when he accepted an operations position with Waffle House Restaurants that would last 18 years before launching the first Deckers. In addition to Deckers Express, Charles and Ann have also recently assumed the food and beverage operations for the Lanier Golf Club on Buford Dam Road. Dining is open to the public from 8:00 – 3:00 pm each day as well as Friday evenings.
