An eclectic blend of true Southern charm accompanied by the casual sophistication of a contemporary coffee house makes CT Grinders a memorable experience for its visitors. “The Grind” provides a fun-related, friendly atmosphere for coffee connoisseurs and diners alike. “We like to have a good time here and want you to as well,” explains caterer, Katie McConnell. Grinders is just that -- “great food and drinks with a friendly staff.”
In addition to an impressive selection of coffee, teas and specialty drinks like the Jumpin’ Monkey Mocha, CT Grinders offers a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner including specialty salads and signature sandwiches. All food is prepared on-site by the staff and a delectable array of baked goods is provided daily by the talented hands of Julianne Stancil.
Last year’s Taste of Forsyth saw Grinders take awards for Best Cold Sandwich (Chunky Chicken Salad), Best Peach Tea. Best Soup (Tomato Basil) and Best Salad. Visitors to the 2006 Taste of Forsyth should expect tempting nibbles this year as well.
Catering on-site and off is also a specialty. Party planners may reserve a single room or the entire house for weddings, showers, business gatherings, birthdays, etc. And birthdays are not limited to adults. Rumor has it that 4-year olds have enjoyed tea parties at the eatery. CT Grinders can be found around town on occasion, too. All eyes should be on the lookout for “Javelina” the mobile café.
CT Grinders originally opened for business in 2002 in the Historic Kemp House located at the corner of Hwy. 20 and Kelly Mill Road. In October, 2005, Eric Fox purchased the restaurant. This was a new field of interest for Eric. The former builder and developer has shown quite a talent in expanding the original concept into a place “where friends get together.” “We want you to feel like you are home or at Grandma’s home,” suggests Eric. Today, Eric along with Manager Rick Glogg and “co-pilot,” Katie McConnell, comprise the “3-legged stool” that is responsible for the operations of the café.
Friday nights provide an 'All You Can Eat' night with a varying menu from week to week featuring such entrees as spaghetti, crab cakes, tacos, and fried chicken just to name a few. On Friday, April 21, 2006, in addition to dinner, visitors can rock to the band Character Defects from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. on the lawn. Everyone is welcome. They say you should “bring your dancing shoes.”
CT Grinders is much more than a coffee shop. It is a place where friends and family gather, where one can sip a latte with an enjoyable novel or where one can shed the daily stress with a dance on the lawn. Eric, Rick and Katie thank everyone for allowing them to be part of the Forsyth community “The future looks incredible due to the support that the community has provided. We here at Grinders feel fortunate to be a part of something much greater than us.”
