Larson-Juhl, a Berkshire-Hathaway company and the world’s premier custom framing designer and manufacturer– this week announced the launch of Artaissance – an innovative new online retail experience for buying custom-sized giclee art. Curated by Larson-Juhl, Artaissance (www.artaissance.com) will feature more than 60 artists who will showcase an exclusive collection of more than 1,200 original works of art - some of which will include limited editions by renowned artists, such as: Soraya Chemaly, Max Hayslette, Thomas William Jones, Sandra Pratt, Rodney White and more.

Derived from the French word ‘to spray’, giclees are vibrant, high-quality art reproductions that are nearly indiscernible from the original pieces. These value-priced works appeal to those who possess an astute taste for fine art and enjoy furnishing their homes tastefully. A full complement of different art genres and styles will be available through Artaissance that is designed to appeal to even the most discerning art lovers. Whether the Artaissance customer appreciates art that is abstract, Americana, metropolitan, coastal, contemporary, global or instead prefers landscapes, florals, children’s art or a still life, an exclusive library of digital images will be available that can be reproduced in variable, or custom, sizing exclusively specified by the customer.

Once a custom-sized piece of art is selected, the Artaissance giclee will be produced in-house on a choice of archival paper or canvas. The finished piece will be shipped free of charge to a participating Artaissance retailer selected by the customer. Variable or custom sizing allows the customer to select giclee art that suits his or her own style, budget and personal tastes while staying true to the original artist’s vision by keeping sizing of the final piece proportional.

“Art is a true expression of an individual’s personal beliefs, desires and experiences,” explained Steve McKenzie, CEO and Chief Curator of Artaissance. “We predict the online experience of Artaissance will engage a whole new era of art enthusiasts and discerning art lovers alike as they explore new ways to select art that is an even more enjoyable and emotionally fulfilling experience,” he said.

Artaissance is designed to make online shopping for giclee art – known for its superior quality and crisp details – as simple as the click of a mouse, McKenzie said. However, he is quick to add that all Artaissance purchases ordered online will be shipped to a participating Artaissance retailer selected by the customer for pick-up and final inspection. “This process ensures Artaissance customers have the opportunity to add the final touch to their artwork available through custom framing,” he said.

This innovative new online retail concept provides a ‘gallery’ of art at ones fingertips, as clients shop at their leisure via an on-line retail experience. Artaissance is currently available in three markets: Atlanta, Indianapolis and San Francisco. In 2007, the company will gradually introduce the existing program into additional cities across the country.

In addition to announcing the launch of its new online art retail website, Artaissance executives today also debuted the Life is One Big Canvas™ sweepstakes in which three lucky winners in launch markets Atlanta, Indianapolis and San Francisco will be selected to win $10,000 in custom art and framing courtesy of Artaissance. No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes. To register, contestants can stop by the local participating Artaissance retailer in his/her market or register online at www.artaissance.com.
