Vickery Village announces the opening of Wild Bird Center at 5825 South Vickery Street. Owner Bill Lange describes Wild Bird Center as “your ultimate backyard nature store offering seed, feeders, bird houses, books, birdfeeding equipment and accessories, gardening items, and unique gifts. It’s everything needed to enjoy the beauty and fun of nature in your own backyard.”
Cheri Morris, a partner in Vickery Village, LLC observes that “There has been a general growth in environmental sensitivity in today’s consumer. Wild Bird Center is an excellent fit in the Vickery Village merchant mix particularly given how so many residents in the area are attracted to the outdoor environment.”
Morris adds, “Vickery offers over 75 acres of parks and green spaces. Low Country Reserve (in Vickery) is a nature preserve with walking trails and diverse habitats for wildlife. Wild Bird Center customers can take just a few steps out the door and be surrounded by nature’s pristine beauty.”
Molly Collier, Wild Bird Center employee and coordinator of the Vickery Birding Club, joined Bill Lange in placing bluebird houses in the parks throughout Vickery. “Wild Bird Center donated 15 bluebird houses and positioned them along the fringes of our beautiful parks in order to provide nesting sites for the numerous bluebird families living in Vickery. There are already 11 nests started in the new bird houses of which all but two are bluebirds. We’d like to invite anyone with an interest in birds to join the Vickery Birding Club on a future bird walk.”
The Wild Bird Center will also loan binoculars (at no cost) to those just starting out. For more information, call 678-456-6900.
Recently retired from a career of over 30+ years as a global corporate business professional, Lange decided to begin a second career as a small business entrepreneur by opening the Wild Bird Center because of his love for nature and the opportunity to enjoy and promote he and his wife’s hobby of feeding and watching birds in their own backyard. “People that enjoy nature are very interesting and enjoyable to work with. The setting at Vickery Village is the ideal location for this endeavor because of its unique charm and inviting natural environment.”
Wild Bird Center will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm at this time with anticipated Sunday hours in the near future. For more information on Wild Bird Center, call 678-456-6900 or email wbcvickery@tphone.us.
