No doubt you’ve heard that cleaning out the clutter in your office is a positive step to make room for new business. Even though you say you can quickly put your hands on any piece of information in the piles on your desk or on the floor – is this an efficient way to keep your business moving at full speed? What impression does this give your customers when they sit down to talk with you about new business and you can’t locate their file?
If you set aside an hour (or whatever time it would take) to file important papers, throw away the ‘junk’ and once again see the top of your desk, wouldn’t that give you a fresh new outlook?
Websites can become just as cluttered as an office, and this can definitely reflect negatively on your business. As a valuable marketing tool, most people will visit your web site before they call you or visit your place of business. First impressions count – so what do they see?
Does your home page look neat and attractive – or is it a jumble of flashing ads, fuzzy photos, a hodge-podge of colors with a crowded, disorganized appearance? It’s hard to get beyond all of this to see what your business is really all about. Chances are you are losing customers by the truckload!
Maybe you’ve added logos on your home page for every organization you belong to or do business with or ‘pop up’ ads from various advertisers. Could these be moved to another page or presented in a more attractive way?
Does your text concisely explain what you offer to your customer – using your best keywords - or does it contain everything and more that you want someone to know about you? Your customer is visiting your site to determine if you offer the service or product they need. Move any information about your background to an “About Us” page.
Take a good look at your web site, and ask yourself if it presents a true picture of your business. If you’re not happy with what you see, contact your web designer right away and start to declutter and spruce up your site.
Congratulations from Web Design Partners. You’ve just opened the door for new business!
