Fourteen youth soccer players with special needs have played their hearts out this fall season during the Atlanta Soccer Academy-hosted TOPSoccer program. The inaugural season welcomed children with many different special needs, including Autism, Down Syndrome and global delays, ages 4 to 11 years old.

TOPSoccer will hold its final game of the season on October 29th at 2pm on field 5B at the Polo Fields, and a brief trophy presentation and party will immediately follow the game at 2:45 p.m.

According to Tim Johannesson who heads up the program, "This season has been such an inspiration -- hearing from the parents and seeing the children open up and doing more and more on their own." He continues, "I can give you a wonderful example of one child who was so attached to his mother the first couple of practices, but has just 'taken off' the last few weeks doing everything on his own now."

"We are so excited about the TOPSoccer program and can not wait till the spring season begins. In fact, we'll be extending the spring season to eight weeks since it seems this season has gone by so fast," added Johannesson.

Registration for spring 2007 will open in January. Please visit the Atlanta Soccer Academy web site at www.atlsoccer.com for more information and to register in January.
